JANE’S® ATTACK SQUADRON DEAL


With the finishing touches being placed on Activision’s Star Trek®: Armada II, Mad Doc’s™ teams gear up for their latest win. The next task at hand: bring Jane’s® Attack Squadron to life.



BOSTON, MA — SEPTEMBER 1, 2001 — Poised to win legions of fans, the eagerly anticipated Jane’s® Attack Squadron comes out of a holding pattern--and back into production--courtesy of Mad Doc™ Software, LLC (Mad Doc), an emerging force in game development. Mad Doc announces its production of Jane’s Attack Squadron for Xicat Interactive, Inc. with further details on the game, a next generation World War II flight combat simulation for the PC, to be announced soon.

At Activision, Davis put his doctorate in Robotics and AI from CMU's School of Computer Science to good use on top-tier releases: as Lead Programmer on Dark Reign ™ , AI programmer on Battlezone™ and Civilization® : Call To Power ä , and Lead Programmer, Technical Director, and co-Project Lead on Star Trek® : Armada .

Early 2000 saw Mad Doc begin work helping Activision finish Star Trek: Armada , while also developing the Surround Light ä API for Boston-based Color Kinetics, an industry leader in high-tech full-spectrum lighting.

To date, Mad Doc team members have helped develop some of the strongest selling and highly regarded games of all time. In May 2000 the team expanded, bringing several former employees of Looking Glass™ Studios on board. By March 2001 Activision announced Mad Doc’s development of Star Trek® : Armada II for the PC. With Star Trek: Armada II, Activision and Mad Doc added true 3D combat and a host of new innovations to one of the best-selling Star Trek games of all time. The game is scheduled for an Autumn 2001 code release date.

Currently, Mad Doc is working on several projects in addition to Jane’s Attack Squadron , including consulting and development for Electronic Arts/Maxis on a major unannounced title for the PC and console platforms. The team is in discussions for additional key projects as well. The Jane’s Attack Squadron agreement was arranged by Dotted Line Entertainment, Inc.
